The quote given is telling us that be careful with who you hang out with because they will impact your life in a good way or a bad way. An example is that if you hang out with smart willing to do anything for a good grade and so will you do the same. A bad example would be you hanging out with some friend who are choosing the wrong and want to smoke and drink which would influence you to do it. This is what i believe the quote is telling us.
