Duties and Responsibilities
Medical Assistants are an important part of the health care team and their responsibilities continue to expand. The MA program provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to work successfully as a team member in a medical office, clinic, HMO or other health care setting.
Salary
The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that medical assistants earned an average wage of $14.51 per hour as of 2011, which works out to an average salary of about$30,170 per year. The middle-earning 50 percent of medical assistants received hourly wages of between $11.86 and $16.87 an hour.
Education
The education needed for a medical assistant is a high school diploma. However, some states require training or examinations for those who do clinical work, and some employers prefer assistants with training or certification.
Reflection: I think i would like to be a medical assistant because i can help a doctor when she needs help.
